Introducing Tautira Foundation

Updated: Aug 18

A palliative care “therapy boat” for the Bay Area, because no one impacted by cancer and chronic illness should spend more time in a hospital than they have to.

We are thrilled to publicly introduce Tautira Foundation, a 501(c)3 public benefit organization dedicated to pushing the boundaries of cancer care in the Bay Area. This new nonprofit will provide custom, integrated support, respite and palliative services outside of a hospital setting. Our unique approach is centered around a classic wooden motor yacht, creating a homelike environment where patients and caregivers can find solace.

During the first year of operation we plan to offer psycho-oncology therapy and support groups – expanding upon those that already exist – to create a broader sense of community specific to disease and/or relation to a patient. In the upcoming years, we hope to expand to other therapies such as EMDR therapy, integrated wellness (bodywork, acupuncture, etc.), a place to create legacy content (letters, videos or audio recordings for loved ones) and end-of-life care.

We're looking for others who wish to join us in this powerful initiative. We are currently seeking donations for Phase 1, which includes an extensive 24-36 month restoration process to ensure our vessel is safe for cancer patients and to re-design to create spaces specifically for their needs. Your support and contributions could make a significant impact on those navigating the challenges of cancer and terminal illness.

If you have any questions, are interested in learning more or to invest in this rewarding project, please visit our donation page.

In Gratitude,

Lauren de Remer
