Donate today to help turn our vision into reality

Updated: Aug 18

For those impacted by cancer and terminal illness, any time spent outside - away from vinyl floors and florescent lighting - is a step in the right direction.

It is estimated that 193,880 Californians will be diagnosed with cancer, which is equivalent to over 22 new cases every hour. Navigating a cancer journey can be scary, isolating and endlessly frustrating in today’s climate. Many are left to explore outpatient support options on their own, struggle to build community longterm while facing new life challenges, or are left burnt out after spending sleepless nights, weeks - months, even - in a clinical setting.

For those impacted by cancer and terminal illness, every second matters. And the lens of those who you wish to spend time with narrows. At Tautira Foundation, we dream of a Bay Area where caregivers find respite, people are treated holistically and quality of life is prioritized for those who’s days have been overshadowed by a cancer diagnosis.

Our team has big goals to move the needle by acting as a lead example for what palliative care should look like, where it’s delivered and when it should begin. You too can be a part of this shift in mindset. And today, as our nonprofit begins to ramp up our fundraising efforts, I’m writing to ask you to be part of it and join us in this powerful initiative.

Given our success is dependent on two main components of this vision, we have provided our community separate campaign options, so that you may designate your donation based on your area of interest:

M/V TAUTIRA RESTORATION - IMMEDIATE NEED

As you may know, our immediate fundraising priorities for the summer are in seeking donations for Phase 1, which includes an extensive 24-36 month restoration process to ensure our vessel is safe for cancer patients and to re-design to create spaces specifically for their needs. Your support and contributions, even a gift of $20, can add up and significantly impact our success.

If you have any questions regarding how your tax deductible contributions will be used, or ways you might be able to get involved, please don’t hesitate to reach out or schedule 1x1 time with us. Thank you so much!

Gratefully,

Lauren de Remer

Founder & Executive Director
