What's the connection?
Program Director’s boyfriend Dana Hayden passed last Fourth of July after a hopeless fight with Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM); she also lost her 11-yr old cousin Nathan to a melanoma brain tumor in the same year (NRAS Q61K mutation). Both were terminal cancer patients seen under Hospice by the Bay's palliative care team. After spending much of 2018 as a primary caregiver, Lauren de Remer became undeniably interested in helping others impacted by cancer including families experiencing significant loss. As a maritime and outdoor industry professional, she felt an undeniable sense of responsibility to shift gears. Through Tautira.org, de Remer aspires to combine her love of the wooden boats with what she believes to be the future of successful, palliative care.
